About the Tutor
Dr. Norman J. Lund and his wife Judith reside in Kenmore, a
suburb of Seattle, WA. They have three daughters and have been homeschooling since
1985. Judy has a degree in education from Seattle Pacific University. Norm
completed his B.A. in religion and philosophy at Northwest University in Kirkland,
WA. He holds two master's degrees from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. He did
his Ph.D. in systematic theology working with Dr. Oliver O'Donovan, now at Christ Church,
Oxford (England) and under Dr. Harry McSorley, from St. Michael's College at the
University of Toronto (Canada). Norm has been teaching professionally for over
twenty years, first at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Anaheim, CA. (1984-1991); then at
American Lutheran Seminary in St. Paul, MN. (1992-1996); in an adjunct capacity at the
Lutheran Bible Institute (now Trinity College) in Seattle (1996-1998); and as the Director
of Oxford Tutorials since 1998.
Dr. Lund is also a certified Teacher Consultant with Academy Northwest, an accredited and
state approved private school based in Seattle, Washington. Academy Northwest is a
private school which has been licensed and approved by the Washington State Department of
Education (WSDE) since 1982. Since 1985, with the passage of the State Homeschool
Law, Academy Northwest has been licensed as a private school offering an extension
program to serve homeschoolers. Currently there are about five hundred high school
students enrolled with Academy Northwest in a more traditional tutorial format.

Norm's favorite author is C.S. Lewis. He studied with Francis Schaeffer at L'Abri,
in Switzerland, in 1970. He subscribes to the Apostle's and Nicene Creeds, and to
the Mission Statement of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. He has
belonged to the Evangelical Theological society since 1985 and presented lectures at both
regional and national ETS conventions since 1986. He has also served as the director
of research for a Christian "Think Tank" called the Shuv Institute, based
in Seattle. His annotated bibliography, dealing with Christian issues and culture

Who Among America's Teachers.®
