Essay Evaluations

All written assignments will receive a grade and an evaluation.  Semester and year-end grade reports for all students are also available upon written request.  Shorter written assignments will sometimes receive a shorter evaluation.  Here is a listing of criteria and the format for a typical grading form used by Dr. Lund to evaluate most essays in the Literature classes and in Rhetoric:

  States main idea clearly

USAGE & MECHANICS (35 points)
  Uses complete sentences
  Follows rules of grammar
  Punctuates correctly
  Capitalizes correctly
  Uses standard formatting
  Spells/Types accurately
  Maintains formal style/tone
